Window Tint Care

August 6, 2015

After investing in having window film installed on your home or business many want to know how to care & maintain their film that way they can ensure the products longevity. Here are a few suggestions on how to do just that.

  • First off do not touch your window film for one full week after having it installed, this allows it to properly adhere to your windows.

  • Window film has a drying time which ranges from 60-90 days depending on your film and the weather conditions, during this time water bubbles will dry out and disappear.

  • It is safe to clean your window tint after it has cured. To clean your window tint you can use a soft cloth, microfiber works great! And a mild soapy solution. One benefit of 3M Window Film is that it can be cleaned with standard cleaning solutions including ammonia based products. Not all window film is made for ammonia based products so call the company you purchased your film from and make sure you can clean them with window cleaner, many of them contain ammonia.

  • Do not use anything abrasive to clean your window film! This will scratch your window tint which will distort your view.

  • Do not put anything with adhesive or a sticky backing on your window film, this may damage the film.

  • Watch your pets, their nails may scratch or damage the film if they jump up on the tinted windows or doors.

  • Window locks or latches may scratch or damage the film when opening or closing, be sure to lock/latch is fully disengaged before sliding up or down.

With these helpful tips we hope you are able to enjoy the benefits of your window tint for years to come.
